The goal of mass media is inform to others what happens in the world today, and celebrities are part of actual news. So when people are famous they are exposed to mass media.
I agree with the topic, because journalists need news all time, and when people are famous the journalists try to find something to talk about this people. In some cases celebrities are more importants news in the world. I think that is very importants the news about famous people, because it help to all persons to forget for few minutes about the bad news that happen every day. Paris Hilton is a big example to this, because she is a celebrity, but despite her young age she has made many shows shameful that people have talked a lot. For example, Paris show up in a sexual video with her boyfriend, and all people saw this.
The journalists shows many things about famous people. They show us bad things, and good things. Is very different if you get celebrity by doing good deeds. For example, Angelina Jolie, she is a celebrity but is very different to PAris Hilton, because she doesn´t shows and scandals of any kind. Although journalists/ paparazzis meedle in her life.

Save the future, first the first
20 years ago people wasted energy and water, started c0ntaminating the enviroment, cars masive selling and factories smoke produced pollution, there were a lot of animals being hunted for its fur and hides without any kind of goverment protection, the contamination increased the earth temperatures and the poles melting started. The planet is trying to breath and thats why hurricanes, tsunamis and other natural disasters are ocurring, the art preservation isnt so important as the future of our planet.
Just few years ago people started to realize that we had a problem a here, and organizations like green peace, WWF, goverment created animal protection laws, but the damage is too big and the time is running out, some scientists estimate the earth will suffer a complete drough in 50 years if we continue like this, we need to invest more in the enviroment preservation if we want a future four our children, the goverment need to create more protection laws and make restrictions orders for miner companies that want to build in forestal places, also promote campaigns of water and energy preservation and good use. The winds making disasters in Barranquilla by this days are caused by global warming.
Some people, music and art fanatics claim more attention for it, demanding more investment rather than health and enviroment, ignoring that culture comes after health care, its worthless to have a rich culture with a lot of people dying, who will enjoy it then? , and it also comes after enviroment protection, its even worthless to be rich in culture knowing we have no future, where will be the art inspiration if the nature expires?
We need new research to rebuild the ozone layer, to reduce global warming, to create water saving products, to make campaigns, we need money, we need to invest in wildlife protection and reproduction, creating national parks, and animal reservation places is expensive, employees salaries, infrastructure, this shows enviroment needs companies and goverment support.

In these days, a lot of teenagers are appealing to plastic surgery only for vanity. But they do not realize how many secondary effects can bring this kind of surgery.
Plastic surgery is a method used to fix physical problems in people.
Every day, many people, especially teenagers, have this kind of surgery not to be healthy but for vanity. They believe that by looking physically better, they will be more successful.
But I believe vanity should not be the reason to have plastic surgery. I think this procedure must be used only to reduce the psychological impact caused by deformities from accidents, burns or the cases of people who were born with physical deformity.
The most common plastic surgery in teenagers is breast augmentation. Girls think that this surgery will make them more secure about them selves. But that surgery in long terms could be really dangerous because silicone could cause allergies and later those girls could have bigger problems than small breast. They could completely lose their breast.
I do not mean that I am not in favor of plastic surgery; I just believe that this kind of surgery should not be done with rush. And also should not be done in all cases.

Everyone knows the university is considered the second home of a person where you learn more specific values. If students decided to not to turn up to class, they could miss out on valuable information and become less motivated. Although, self-study is a good way to acquire knowledge, I think that no matter they like or not, university students should be required to attend classes to get better their mind.
First of all, university students can acquire much knowledge when they go to classes. When the teachers are explaining a topic, sometimes they say something that does not appear in the books, just because they say something that can be probably experiences of their life. For example, a teacher is explaining something about mechanical system, this is a topic very abstract but, teacher can make it easier for student, because he/she explains his/her experience in a factory related to the topic, the books do not say anything about the experience of someone in a factory, only appears theory. This expansion the students cannot learn if they learn by themselves trough the books. Going to classes, university students can learn much knowledge that does not cover in a book.
Second of all, attending classes, university students can learn more skills for the future life. When the teacher does an activity in groups, the students get together and can learn some skills through their group assignment.
In addition, students may spend time gaining experience since they are still at school. If students have only academic knowledge got from classes, they will definitely fail in the race for well-paid employments. The university students have their preparation to persuade others. These skills are very important for students when they go to work in any company in the future.
Although, optional attendance to classes at universities has been an increasingly popular way for students to study for several years in quite a few countries. However, it has not yet had its intended results as if had been hoped. In fact, today, this system seems to be one of the reasons for the corruption of university education in my opinion, compulsory attendance is better than having no requirement to attend all the lessons on campus.
Finally, going to classes can train university to be more responsible and hard working. Usually going to classes and keeping the schedule of classes require the effort of university students. If they want to be the best in their classes they have to be responsible and hardworking, this is something that will help them in the society.

Often Video games have been considered as an addiction and a negatively influence in child’s behavior but also there are positive aspects saying that video games stimulate the intelligence and reflexes of the child.
The video games, used responsibly and with contents adapted for the kid’s age, can contribute to the good development of the child , videogames help him to understand the team work and to respect the rights of another person.
Some people say that a video game with violent scenes and mature contents as " grand theft auto ", " doom ", resident evil ", and others, can develop in the individual a very low border towards the crimes , with a trend towards the problems. Everything depends of autoesteem, behavior, aptitudes and physical and mental skills of the individual.
The violent scenes can influence a child, under psychological studies, the children who play violent titles, can have activities and violent thoughts.
Indeed this facts can be true but the parents have the responsibility to choose carefully a game with the appropriate content, and being present when the child is playing in order to clear any doubt of the child.

Are you enjoy what you do it for living or you doing it just for survive?
When we think about this question the people don’t understand the real meaning, because a lot of people don’t have this problem but when you realize the question whit the people that really don’t have nothing you start to think that a lot of people that contribute to the society or to the city they don’t like the role played that they have.
To begin when you were young, the only thing that you think was in had fun, after many years you realize that is not important what you like to do for hobby or for fun, you had to think what are you going to do for living. And then you know that what you like is not the think that help you to survive.
For example many people in this country live from the ground and worked in that because that was the only thing that they saw for living and was the only thing that learn to do, then the war made them leave what they like to do or the only thing that they know. Furthermore they have to immigrate to the city that is a place that they never saw come to there live, and found first place to live, but for that they need money that the only way to have it is working, then to get a place some of them pass a lot of nights in the park or in the street while they found a job or some to do, if we realize they don’t do it for enjoy or for have a great experience outdoors is because the have to do it to survive and for the same reason they do whatever to get money to solve the basic problems such as food, housing and so can have a stable place as they had before being displaced from the ground the they had.
On the other hand we have works that are really nasty or are disgusting but someone have to do it. A lot of people that do this type of work, never imagine that that they are going to work in that for example the people that clean the garbage or the women that clean de houses for a stranger. There are things that we never think, like if the person that work in some work really liked or why they do it, or what is the history across the person that do it. How ere there are a middle class person that don’t enjoy what they do but they have to do it if they want be comfort or the other reason is to be save like the security live care.

IS THE BEAUTY AN IMPORTANT FACTOR TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE?
The physical appearance is one of the main problems in people’s life everyday. We pass a considerable part of the day seeing our hair, our face, maybe if we are well dressed. But that love to our physical appearance has passed of being a simple part of our routine to become an important requirement in life and, even more, in an important factor to be successful.
According to an article published on The Economist, beauty has become in an important factor to be successful at getting a job even if this characteristic (to be beautiful) is not a real requirement.
In fact, many people judge others by their physical appearance. To illustrate, if we are going to work we put on a nice shirt, a smoking or just the appropriate clothes for the occasion. That is why the way we look influences the idea other peoples do about us.
Doing an analogy, when we are going to buy fruits we do not choose the ugly ones; we take to home the ones that seems to be better than the others, which apparently are well colored and have a nice aspect. Those are the characteristics that let us think, “These are better”.
Actually that is exactly what happens with us. In many cases we select people by their physical appearance.
I cannot judge this conception because we have learnt to value the exterior beauty of people. To the point that it let us make judgments about the way they are.
Even thought our organism evaluates others doing a kind scanning like in the case of women, if they have big hips and big breast we, unconsciously, think they can be good mothers, and that they has all the requirements to be successful at raising babies.
Then that perception is modified and materialized in our contemporaneous world and makes the women who have that requirements be more successful than the ones who do not have them.
Is that the world we want? Where physical appearance is even more important that all the knowledge a person can have.
So, what we should do is to start to construct a more equitable society to try to eliminate some paradigms. Sometimes we live in a place that we do not wish because the society forces us to be in that place due to our needs and principally to have a better standard of living. For this reason it is said that the planet is urbanized since in almost all the developed countries the persons have left the country to go away to the big cities because of the violence.
Living in the big city means having a better standard of living due to the fact that there’s almost everything as an excellent education, opportunities of work, safety, stability, good public services (drinkable water, service of sewer and cleanliness), big access of routes, the things are obtained with facility thanks to there are several shopping centers. In the field of health, there are specialists in every medical area and also they are actualized with the science advance.
Despite that living in the big cities has many advantages also has its disadvantages; it can be complicated, stressfully and principally the time that a person consumes in transporting due to the traffic is higher. The great quantity of vehicles dealing in the big cities cause a series of inconveniences as the noise and the respiratory diseases produced by the steams that expel the vehicles.
Given that the big cities are conformed by a great number of habitants, there’re a series of environmental problems as the domestic garbage and traffic congestion.
Unlike the big cities, it is possible to say that to live in small towns is living in peace, coolly; it would be like to live in harmony with the nature. The persons who live in the town are dedicated to the agriculture, ranching and fishing. For this, if you live in the small town, you can find the natural and very economic things as the fruits and fresh vegetables, also plants that often are used as help for medical investigations. Of equal form there are wild animals that help to the advance of the science and to treating the diseases. The transport is normal, due to the fact that the demand is low. Living in small towns also has its disadvantages as the quality of public services, the medical facilities, the education and the work.

I say it because I studied in a school in a small town and the truth it isn’t the same thing, because it might not compete with the school of a city and now that I am studying in a university in the city I realize the great difference and quality that exists in these.

It is very sad to see teenagers in some countries working on the street at traffic lights, cleaning the windows of cars or selling candy. In this case they don’t want to work, but their parents obligate them because they are so slack and don’t like to work honestly.
In conclusion, the teenagers should not work because they need a previous preparation to get a better job in a future to survive with honor and to support their future children and have a worthy life.

The history of punishments in Colombia is very variable, because our national history it’s gave by a lot of facts that although define our way to be, influence our lows positive and negatively in the same way. Before, the capital punishment existed, nowadays, they don’t want to have the people jailed.
Before to start to write opinions we should think what kind of crimes do we want to be punished with the life sentence. In my opinion the main crimes are the homicides, sexual abuse and kidnapping. I’ve even thought on capital punishment to all those criminals who violate the children rights, but I’ve reflected about it because God is the only one who can decide for the someone life’s destiny.
If Colombia implement the life sentence the first thing what will happened is that the people victim of the horrors is going to feel supported by the government. Second –and I’m very sure of that- the crime level will decrease, because the criminals don’t care about what they do for the simple punishments that they will get for any crime they committed, doesn’t matter what it is, always the punish will be less of what they deserve. Beside that, the law help them to go out of streets easier and faster, if they don’t do nothing bad during they stay on jail. But, if the government implement the life sentence, the criminals will be motivated to not make crimes for the harder punish that they will get.
I think the main contra that life sentence have is the economical factor. The government expense is very high and the maintenance of convicts on jail is very expensive, looking them as a group. If the government implement thins punish, this implicate to increase the government expense, when they don’t have money enough to do it.
Is necessary to our country make this law’s projects because of justice. We cannot let the criminals free on the streets, after the assassination of innocent people, or even worst, after the assassination or abuse of our children. Just God can forgive that kind of crimes. We don’t ask for capital punishment because we don’t like to be like them: disrespectful of the other life.
Finally, we cannot be flexible in the presence of major crimes. We should respect the life of everyone, but to have an assassin on the streets is a danger to all the community.

During the years, people see how the unemployment statistics are growing up. In Colombia is very difficult to get a job even if a person is a professional. We do not have a lot of job sources and opportunities to be prepare for the future witch is one of the million of reasons why people choose illegal ways to supply their needs.
Here in the country is very common to see a hundred of children working on the street like singing or selling food in small business instead of to be learning at school, witch is prohibit according to the children rights. Beside, many situations show that parents do not have a job have not the economic resources to support their son’s activities such as pay school so they order to children to look for a job. Free education would be the solution for this situation, but the budget of our government is too high. If Colombia did not have a lot of corruption, people could get the resources to make more accessible the education to everybody.
In the other hand, people who graduated from school have more opportunities (just a little) to get a job, but they do not have the same knowledge that people who went to the university and who are working in places that others going to work. Is important to the companies to train their employees. Statistics shows that companies who train their employees have a higher productivity than others and also have more opportunities to grow up and export.
In conclusion, Colombia needs to finish the corruption problems that do not allow people and the country development. Without corruption, government can invert and spend money in educations and jobs projects that allow people grow up having more opportunities to survive and to have a better preparation for the future.

work in the university
this article is about how it is feel when you work in the university at the same time you study.
for me there are three importans aspect that you have to know.
first your studys , you have to create a timetable to manage your time to do (homeworks, presentations and other things that studys require).
second your work, you have to consider this is a very important responsibility it is not a game is about your future. depending on your performance you can get great work proposals.
finally your personal life, will not be easy but you have to make sacrifices to meet all targets. you can always count on the people around you when you have a problem do not forget that.
It is very difficult to work and study at the same time but it has its advantages and disadvantages. the knowledge generated is very essential and very important for our career. gives us the experience to meet new challenges in engineering.
but at the same time, removed us the time to do many things that we like.
in some cases, we produce stress and more concerns than generally had.

Well, I guess all colombian people must be happy because of the release of the 4 kidnapped by the Farc (3 police officers (Alexis Torres, Juan Fernando Galicia and José Walter Lozano) and 1 soldier (William Rodríguez)). Today, we hope that Alan Jara, ex governor of Meta, come back to the freedom, and in next days, Sigifredo Lopez, an ex deputy from Valle del Cauca, will be released too. But because of the announcement of President Uribe, who limited the process to the Red Cross and Brazil, excluding Colombians for Peace, a civil organization who get in contact with Farc and made all these releases possibles, the releses may be stopped. And remember something, there still are about 30 so-called political hostages in the jungle.
WHAT A GOOD MOVIE!
"People come and people go, but some of them leave unforgetable memories that become part of our lives" that's just one of the beutiful messages we are going to find in "the curious case of Benjamin Button" the last Brad Pitt's film.
In this movie he plays the roll of a man that was born the day the 1rst world war finished. "Its a very special day to come to life" according to the narrator of the film. The problem with Benjamin was he didn't have the appareance of a babe. He looks very old and seems to have all the illnesses a person has at 80 years. I know it sounds a little crazy but for me the idea (of an old baby) was so particular and new that when the movie started and showed me the muggy wrinkled skin added to his skinny body I thought: this movie will win the Academy award.
During all the 175 minutes we can see all the development of his life. from he is a 80 years baby to he is a 3months ancient man. Benjamin found love in different times and with several women, each one of them teaching him things about life, love and romance, and he did a lot of friends that let him notice life is a complicated way we have to cross alone.
I recommend this movie to all people because it makes you think about your whole life, what you are doing with it and what could happen if... So go to the theather now and enjoy of The curious case of Benjamin Button.

Barranquilla is a beautiful city of Colombia. The people in this city are outgoing and are helpful. The most important date in Barranquilla are the carnivals. In carnivals people go to different acts, for example "Batalla de flores", "Gran Parada", and "Garabato".
In this parties people think that Barranquilla is the better, and is the true!!!!. When you travel to other country, you miss this city because the food, the people, and the music are unique. This year, carnivals begin in February, although some festivities finished, for example, "Lectura del Bando", "Garabato de los niños", etc. If you go to the carnival one time, you going to fall in love with this parties, because it is the better. Actors to the television, queens, important people, arrive to Barranquilla to Carnivals. Carnivals are famous in the world. Brasil's carnivals are famous to, but in Barranquilla you feel the emotions, you can appreciate the happiness of people.

After wining america's cup, Colombian national team has been changing coaches without leaving any of them to perform the process they had in mind, this issue is thanks to the bad results, the passivity of the players, and the really poor definition strikers got, wasting a lot of chances to score each match.
The new coach Eduardo Lara, thinks that making a mix between young and experienced players (more young than exp. tho) is the key of victory. We have to recognize that the national team is and never has been bad or easy to beat, the defenders and goalkeepers do an excellent job each match, but as we said before the fact that the strikers and wingers waste too much chances to score, decreases the team spirit and sooner or later the defenders cant handle rivals and we loose. The last game against brazil showed a pretty organized team, young players figthing each ball, running the 90 minutes, facing brazil as if it was any other team and not the 5 times world champion and not being scared of ronaldinho, kaka, pato and the other brazil star players, Colombia played so well that the brazilians couldnt do anything to break the defense, and our team attaked almost all the game, but no scoring.

My name is Andrea Susana Vega Cabarcas, I was born in Cartagena, Colombia in 1990. I'm 18 years old.
I study psychology at the Uninorte in Barranquilla, Colombia and I am in 2nd semester.
I studied my highschool in Castagena, in a school named El Pinar de Canada. It is a military school and I had great experiences there, like military camping for 4 days with all my classmates, shooting real arms in competitions.
